I got into engineering by applying for an
apprenticeship. I’m dyslexic, but working with my hands
is something I am really good at. I’m a senior orthotic technician. I make
bespoke surgical splints to help people walk. I like knowing what I’ve made is going to
help someone. The biggest achievement is a product for a
patient who hasn’t been able to walk for six years, that helped them stand at their own
wedding. It is really satisfying that you’re a part
of that.
